“Stepping into the World of Machine Learning: An Introduction”
Holla!!
It’s been a while and I was planning to write a blog and I am very glad to start this Introductory Machine Learning Series.
I am a 3rd Year student in Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning Engineering at Chandigarh University. In the Last 2 years, due to the AI,ML and Deep Learning stuff that rolls out to news feed and Elon Musk Vs Mark Zuckerberg fight over AI (like Luke Skywalker over Kylo Ren), I thought of exploring some contents on Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning. After number of days of crunching and feeding the brain with the common terms of Machine Learning (Oh boy,I was amazed by the stuff they can accomplish). I was jealous when they mentioned in the articles CNN can classify images at par with human within days of training( I am 20 and still don’t cannot classify between gorilla and chimpanzee), how the models are better in classifying images than me.
In my those exploring journey I came across some of the cool content which really fascinateed me and change my thinking towards computer science and engineering
During my exploration, I came across some of the cool and captivating content that truly fascinated me and changed my thinking in computer science and engineering.

3. “Transcendence” (Film):
What is machine learning? What’s so trendy about machine learning? and Why’s everyone crazy about it?
Imagine a single person monitoring multiple video cameras to detect any criminal activities in a particular area. Certainly, a difficult job to do and boring as well. Now imagine if we have a system which automatically detects any criminal activities and alerts the attender.
In fact, the video surveillance system nowadays is powered by AI that makes it possible to detect crime before they happen. They track unusual behavior of people like standing motionless for a long time, stumbling, or napping on benches, etc. The system can thus give an alert to human attendants, which can ultimately help to avoid mishaps. And when such activities are reported and counted to be true, they help to improve the surveillance services. This happens with machine learning doing its job at the backend.
All this is only possible if we have a sufficient amount of data that could differentiate between criminal activities and noncriminal activities and train computers accordingly.
Machine learning is all about feeding data into a generic algorithm and help it build its own logic, based on the data fed to it. This way, you don’t have to write codes. The subject can be divided into three categories; supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning. We will be covering these in details later on but for now, let’s understand how Machine Learning can be helpful in real life.
In textbooks Machine learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, is transforming industries, revolutionizing technology, and shaping the world as we know it. However, diving into this field can be daunting, given its breadth and depth. But fear not, for navigating this landscape is an exhilarating journey that begins with the right approach and resources.

Now the question which is many times, I am asked, “How and where should I begin learning machine learning?”
It’s an exciting question and one that holds vast potential. The journey to mastering ML often appears shrouded in uncertainty. With numerous resources available, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, leading many to abandon the idea before even starting.
To embark on the path of machine learning, it’s crucial to set a strong foundation. In this series I will be guide to help you start your machine learning journey on the right foot.”
